Andrea Martinson



Suzuki String Specialist

Andrea Martinson graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Minnesota State University – Mankato. She was awarded a four year Mankato Symphony scholarship. She was also a concerto contest winner and an undergraduate teaching assistant. While at Mankato, Andrea studied with Marilyn Bos.

In 1998 Ms. Martinson received a Master of Music in Suzuki Pedagogy from East Carolina University (ECU) in Greenville, North Carolina where she studied with Joanne Bath. She was also a graduate assistant for Ms. Bath during her Masters course. While pursuing her graduate studies at ECU she received a Suzuki Association of the Americas scholarship. Andrea was awarded a second Master of Music degree, in Violin Performance by the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford, CT. While at the Hartt School of Music she studied with Linda Fiore and Brian Lewis. She also participated in Master Classes with members of the Emerson Quartet. Ms.Martinson has taken Suzuki coursework from Marilyn O’Boyle, Nancy Lokken, Craig Timmerman Alice Joy Lewis and Tom Wermuth. She has taken viola coursework from Betsy Stuen-Walker.

Ms. Martinson has maintained private violin and viola studios in Mankato Minnesota, Greenville (NC), and Hartford (CT). She has taught at the New Ulm Minnesota Suzuki School of Music in Mankato and the Hartt School of Music Community Division. Shehas performed with the Mankato Symphony for eight years, the St. Cloud Symphony and the Tar River (NC) Symphony.
